    Press Reviews
To summarise in a word this gig was surprising. Held at Greenock's very own ’the function’ club, this gig was one of the most enjoyable I’ve attended in a long time .The relaxed atmosphere and the great performances made the night worthy of my first review .so here it is. First To grace the stage were emo-punk four piece ABC (although going through a name change) they kept ABC for this one. Stepping up from the crowd, these guys were relaxed and up for a good night. They picked up their instruments then blasted into their set. Opener was classic ’carry on’. This song explodes into an array of memorable tunes, rives and rhythms, which force you to move along with them. A good start setting the standard for the set. Next up was ABC’s very own Englaisias influenced ‘’happy ending’’. This song has great energy and got heads nodding, until vocalist/guitarist Mr Williams took to his usual string snapping antics cutting the song short in its prime. Then eagerly proceeding to demonstrate how not to change a guitar string and took a good five mins going through another sting trying. Once all was well they moved into ‘’without’’, allowing drummer Ian Pollok to show of some fancy beats and crazy fills. Even if this song is reminiscent of u2’s with or without you, the punky vibe more than covers up for the similarities. Then came ‘’define time’’. Beautiful. What else can I say? The intro for this song had a real driving edge to it that burst into some impressive guitar riffage, which appeared to make the music louder. This song could take them places.’’ Scattered loss’’ took to the hard job of following next .The sway-worthy acoustic intro showed that bassist and drummer had a tight connection that held together the song. ’’It feels like’’ emphasised the self-awareness these guys have for tight stops and a perfectly executed half time break section, this song has impact. Closing duo ‘’singled out’’ and ‘’ashamed’’ saw the band revert to there old punky bounce along roots, before the head nodding anthem ashamed brought things to end. This gig was good for both band and crowd. ABC displayed a great awareness of one another. Playing a surpassing mix of styles-punk, hardcore, emo, etc…There set sounded like a collaboration of midtown, finch and the starting line. Great show of talent from a band with potential. --sonicunion.co.uk--
