Artist History
It all started about 10 years ago in Memphis, TN. God placed on the hearts of C-Dub and three young men at Longview Heights SDA Church the idea that the gospel could be spread through hip hop music. They formed “Da Tribe” and performed their testimonies and parables through the entertaining yet controversial media hip hop music in Memphis other areas in the Southeastern US.
After that group disbanded, C-Dub graduated from high school and went on to pursue higher education at the University of Tennessee on a full scholarship. At this point in his life, C-Dub searched for a deeper relationship with God. He says, “even though I made mistakes, God always saw to it that I am taken care of”.
Just when C-Dub thought his ministry through hip hop was over, God joined him with Clarence “Mercy” Tate, Jr. to form Sinners Saved By Grace or S.S.B.G. (www.ssbg.iuma.com or www.mp3.com/ssbg) . They traveled all over the country together ministering on a first come first blessed basis. Even after graduating from college, C-Dub and Mercy continued taking God’s message to His people of all ages through their hip hop music. They were even invited to minister in Las Vegas, NV on the internationally broadcast Bobby Jones Gospel Show.
S.S.B.G. amicably disbanded last year, but that has not stopped C-Dub from ministering the gospel through hip hop. As a solo artist, he performed all over Knoxville, TN and surrounding areas. In November, he returned to his hometown of Memphis and started T.G.C. Ministries - a ministry of doing The Great Commission based on Matthew 28:19-20 through hip hop music. Since then, he was selected from over 200 submissions to perform on the Holy Hip Hop Awards Show and Showcase in Atlanta, GA, Olanda Draper’s Associates Music Lovers Conference in Memphis, TN, and the Lifeline Benefit Concert in Little Rock, AR.
He currently has a demo that he wrote, produced, and recorded called Double the Christ Double the Life. He is also hard at work on a compilation album that features The Great Commission Fellowship- several like-minded gospel hip-hop solo artist from his church and sister churches.
