Artist History TV Yellow began in the Fall of 1995 in the college town of Athens, Ohio, home of Ohio University. It was there that they crossed paths and began writing songs together. While obtaining their degrees, the three played around southern Ohio under the name Kid Charlemagne and recorded a self-produced CD in 1996.The band performed all over the state, playing any festival, bar, or party that would create an audience for their music. After playing the bar circuit for two years the band found themselves growing in both their live performance and songwriting abilities. In June of 1998 they earned their degrees and decided to stay together at a time when most college bands would break up. While planning a move to California, the Smokehouse label offered an opportunity to stay in the area and record. The band made the name change to TV Yellow in late 1998 after relocating to the greater Cincinnati area. The name was taken from the late 1950’s guitar finish that was created to reduce the reflection of light into the television cameras of the day.

Additional Info After five years of writing and performing with the same members, TV YELLOW announces a dramatic change in its lineup. Guitarist Jeff Perholtz and bassist Nate Greicius have departed to pursue others ventures. Moving over to play bass is former guitarist Drew Phillips. With his brother Adam on drums this move gives TV YELLOW the rare makeup of having twins handling the rhythm section.
