    Artist description
Why does a band from New Jersey name themselves The Milwaukees? Well, in an homage to classic rock band names such as Kansas, Chicago and Boston these Jersey boys were left with two options: The Milwaukees or Cincinatti...you do the math. But what is in a name? The Milwaukees make rock music that is a cut above. Dylan Clark (Guitar/Vocals) and Dave Post (Bass) anchor the song writing with an uncommon melodic tension. While the addition of Brian Stoor (ex-Aviso Hara, Bunt) on drums and Jeff Nordstedt on guitar has bolstered the sound significantly. The band truly came into its own with their first Childlike Records release entitled "Missile Command." Produced by Wayne Dorell (Tonic, Chavez) "Missile Command" combines the intensity of emo faves Sunny Day Real Estate and Samiam with the unique pop sensibilities of alt-rock pioneers Sebadoh & Dinosaur Jr., and adds a touch of classic rock bravado care of giants like Led Zeppelin and Rush. The result is a sound all their own; and it is one that tests the boundaries of passion and musicianship. Since releasing "Missile Command" (now in its second pressing) the band has been showcased at the WE Fest in Wilmington, North Carolina in May of 2000 and at the North By Northeast Music Conference in Toronto, Ontario in June 2000. They have played a sold out CD release party at New Jersey's renowned indie rock club, Maxwells, and landed opened slots for national acts such as Shades Apart, SR-71, and Nine Days. Their music has appeared on numerous compilations and a surf/skate video entitled "What Exit?" Recently, The Milwaukees had the unique opportunity of recording a 6-song CDEP for Canada's 24-7 Records. For this recording, entitled "The Bland Comfort of Life with Lloyd Justin," The Milwaukees returned to Wayne Dorell and focused on producing a record that would feature the band's current lineup and harness their raw energy. In the fall of 2000 they logged 6,000 miles of touring in support of their Canadian release. With some substantial touring now under their belt The Milwaukees are fast developing a reputation for their high energy live act and are planning extensive touring of the east coast, as well as a return to Canada, in the months to come. Their debut album for Childlike/Forest Records MISSILE COMMAND is a follow-up to the band's 1998 self-release title Sunset and Sunrise. Produced and engineered by Wayne Dorell (Tonic, Chavez), MISSILE COMMAND reflects a considerable musical growth on the part of The Milwaukees.

    Press Reviews
"The Milwaukees make music that is complex and viscerally gripping." -The Star Ledger "The Milwaukees are one of those bands that can rock you and move you. I'm not sure if Dylan Clark--the singer, guitarist, and songwriter of The Milwaukees--is comfortable yet with being called "emo." After all, the boy doesn't know jack about punk rock. So let's just call these six new tracks "emotional indie rock." The addition of Brian Stoor (ex-Bunt, Aviso' Hara) on drums and Jeff Nordstedt on second guitar has bolstered the band's sound, making it a bit thicker and more solid, but basically, Dylan and bassist Dave Post are still churning out driving rock dominated by Dylan's histrionic vocals and poetic lyrics. It doesn't really matter that line like "there's Beatles in my head" don't make any sense--the force of the music and the passion in Dylan's voice tell you all that you need to know. Which is, quite simply, that The Milwaukees are one of those bands that can rock you and move you. 'Nuff said." -Jim Testa Jersey Beat
