'The Guardian' August 10th 2000, Record company representatives are expected to be at Fosters night club in Newquay on Saturday night(Aug 12) to check out the talents of Launceston-based rock band Podd. The three-piece melodic rockers are made up of Andrew Provis on vocals/guitars; John Sherringham on bass guitar/backing vocals; and Ian Kirrage on drums. Their set mainly comprises of their own material intermixed with some popular covers. Since their first gig in mid'98, the band have played most local venues and have now clocked up gig number 50. Manager Geoff Provis said; "This weekend they are set to play possibly their most important gig to date. "The band are currently causing quite a stir within music industry circles. After receiving Podd's demo tapes, an agency called Quicksounds passed the tapes around record and management companies in London. "Representatives from a few of these companies are expected at the Fosters gig - a show not to be missed!" 'The Cornish and Devon Post' July 99, 'Launceston Castle Rock Festival draws the crowds' by Christian Murison. The stunning setting in the grounds of Launceston castle, was for two days the home to some of Cornwall's leading bands. The most important Cornish festival of the year, it features the best of the region's music on one stage over two days. Friday kicked off with Launceston based rock band 'Podd'. They got the live music off to a start at 7pm. Formed about a year ago by ex- 'Syrup', member Andy Provis, they have established themselves as a strong force on the local music circuit. They tore through a set that included: 'Patterns','Dragging', Dirty old man', Distraction' and 'Ride'. They brought their repertoire to a close with an amazing song, 'Pyschodelia', which really got the castle rocking. |
