Artist description
Formed in 1979, Brothers Dave and Joe Machos
sought to express themselves in a rock format as
a duo using bass, keyboards, and drumboxes. By
1990, they had established Nullset as a Central
NJ (New Brunswick) band with several self-produced
releases to their credit. The band also included Steve Maffei,
and Ex-Rockin' Bricks as members for recording and performances
- not to mention Linc the Scot (we won't).

Artist History
1979 - Began recording using Electro-Harmonix gear
and a used Ovation Fretless Bass. Recorded on a 3M
Wollensak reel to reel (mono).
1980 - Performed first live gig in Elizabeth, NJ.
1982 - Added Drummer Chris Dallenbach. Although now
using a drummer, acoustic drums were not used. Chris
played an assortment of Synare gear and 'The Kit', a
toylike, but very cool fingertip drum machine.
1983 - After initial recording with Matt Pinfield
on the debut single 'Askyalater', Chris begins using
real drums to avoid 'technical problems' live.
Band records the EP 'Unisphere'. Open for the Violent Femmes
in NB on their first major label support tour.
1984-1990 - Record and release several EPs and CD's |
