Artist History
I was born in Beijing and graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in 1998. On October 6, 1995, my work Aurora Borealis for Violin, Viola, Cello and Piano had its premiere in Beijing Concert Hall by the Eclipse Ensemble, the China's foremost ensemble specializing in the performance of contemporary Music. Then I attended the MUSICARAMA'95 international New Music Festival in Hong Kong with this work. It was performed in City Hall Theatre of Hong Kong. Aurora Borealis was also recorded by Wergo in 1996 (Wer: 6299-2).
From September 9 to 29, 1996, I was invited to attend the master class in Abbaye de Royaumont, Paris, and studied with Brian Ferneyhough, Klaus Huber and Xu Shuya. From July 4 to 16 of 1997, I gain the scholarship to participated in that year's Centre Acanthes in Avignon, France, and studied from Marc-Andre Dalbavie, Marco Stroppa and Qigang Chen.
Now I am graduate student of Wesleyan University, CT, US, studying with Neely Bruce, Alvin Lucier and Anthony Braxton.
My works include Dialogue between guan and piano (1994), Five preludes for piano (1994), Nymph in the water for soprano and piano (1994), Perseus for classical string Quartet (1995), Aurora Borealis for Violin, Viola, Cello and Piano (1995), Odnor (retrograde of the word "Rondo"-Chinese traditional way to write words, from right to left) for seven performers (1996), Night thoughts on a journey for soprano and mezzo (1996), Mountain over the gray clouds for orchestra (1997), Xiao for alto-flute (1997), Up stream of time for Suona and orchstra (1998), Refraction for piano and tape (1998), Spring view for chorus (1998), 2*(w.at(2).kr) * [1, 1.33, 1.67, 1.89], for computer language supercollider and any kind of improvisation (1999), Warma for chorus (1999), Pianonaip for two pianos, and the music for the puppet play the Bell (1999) etc..
