    Artist History
Gregory Paul (vocals, guitars, electronics) and Aaron Boucher (drums) first collaborated together in the avant pop-rock group "Stillmotion." Later re-forming under Gregory Paul, the duo played over 500 shows throughout the northeast U.S. from 1998-2002. They were semi-finalists in the SPIN magazine best unsigned band contest and released half a dozen indy CD's. GP opened for The Moody Blues, Blue Oyster Cult, Josh Rouse, Poor Rich One's, Saint Low, Chris Whitley, The Crash Test Dummies, Jian Ghomeshi, Jonatha Brooke, Foreigner, G-Love & Special Sauce, Dave Mason, Jeremy Toback, Leona Naess, Adrian Legg, Matthew Sweet, The Miracles and more. Bassist Tony Wensel was added in September of 2001, and in April, 2002 the group signed with Onlinerock Records, a company affiliated with one of the largest music communities on the internet. In september 2002 the group and label collaborated to release "Spirit and Decibels," the bands first album as a trio. In performance and on their recordings, the group creates a textured, hypnotic sound. Paul's alluring, emotive vocals interwoven with hauntng, atmospheric instrumentals are propelled by Boucher's inventive percussion and Wensel's solid bass line. Billboard magazine called the group, "a hybrid of atmospheric ambience and powerful acoustics". "Hybrid" is a good word for the group, as their influences are wide ranging. Echoes of ambient rock, dream pop, brit pop, dub reggae, electronica, and hip hop, surge through the mix during the band's spirited, electric performances and on their CD's.

    Press Reviews
"A hybrid of atmospheric ambience and powerful acoustics" - BILLBOARD. "Shines deeper with lyrics of beauty surrounded by a stirring voice" -FREETIME. "Gregory Paul the group. Gregory Paul the man. Either way you look at it, the sound created is bigger than -and yet all about -life. The songs he sings are powerful without being too trippy. Paul's music recalls the insurgent pop-rock first heard in the early 80's -before the advent of new wave fluff and over-emphasized fashion. Kinda like Stipe without the hype." -CITY NEWSPAPER "Plaintive guitars give way to mournful violins, hushed melodies rise and fall, whispered by Paul‘s soft, appealing baritone. This is not music to fall asleep to -it‘s music to dream about." -ITHACA TIMES. "Paul’s fourth release, is his most diverse without straying too far from the airy, electro-acoustic, eerie style that has made him one of the most distinctive musician's on the local scene." -DEMOCRAT & CHRONICLE. "21st century atmospheric ambience." "in this release, rich both in atmosphere and emotional crafting, disarming in naked simplicity and soaring in the organic thresholds of the greatest indiepop (like that of the best prose, alchemic personal ruminations translating unto universal experience) with hallmark strength and residual atmospherics honed to the basic elements, PAUL epitomizes the quality/art vs. quantity/commodity time less duality that music this good should have to beat its brains out in order to be heard is the raison d’etre of freeform radio" - mitch lemay [kfjc radio 89.7 FM]
