Artist History
"Always aim for the moon, for if you miss you will still be amongst the stars" -
MOONSTAR was born in may 2002 in a rehearsal studio in Gouda, The Netherlands.
It all started during the 'jamsessions' with singer/guitarist/songwriter Edwin Bol
( ex-drummer of Mint and Sway ) and guitarist Marco de Jong, early 2001.
When Peter Manschot came to play drums during these 'jamsessions', everything
seemed to fit perfectly on both musical and personal grounds.
The band was complete, when bassist Marcel Koper appeared in
the picture after several months.
While playing for some months,
the love for melodic British bands seemed
to form a line in the music and in august 2002,
MOONSTAR's first songs were born.
These songs and covers from bands like Suede, Coldplay,
I am kloot and Starsailor, were played on the
terraces in Gouda, which led to an invitation to play at
the Jazzfestival in Gouda and one month later in the local Irish Pub.
MOONSTAR's music can be described as melodic, partly acoustic popmusic
with a dreamy atmosphere. You can tell by the bands name and by the
titels of their songs, such as "In Love", "A brandnew day",
"You ( for a princess )" and "Into the sky".
