    Artist History
In the beginning there was a void…. Then there was The Base. A concept dreamed of and created by Damo and Danny, who lived in Southwark. Together they worked a long time on their songs and style hoping to find people who could not only put up with the boys eating habits, but also play the rawest music around, without the typical egos you’ll find in a band. By chance, Damo and Danny stumbled across the incredibly good looking Lee Brewster, an old work colleague and friend, and realised the benefits of having a Gap model on bass. He was instantly recruited and proceeded to shock the boys by showing he was far more than just a pretty face, he could play as well, and damn good at that. On a pure Coincidence he was lounging around his house (Witherspoons) about a week after his recruitment and he bumped into an old primary school friend, Oliver Parker. A meeting was set up and once the boys saw the menacing height of Oliver they daren’t refuse him, they needn’t have worried because as soon as they witnessed his chaotic yet tight drum style, they felt they had won the lottery….or something. Striking up an instant friendship made the band an instant democracy and the boys had no hesitation or fear of telling the young Danny he was crap on his own, we needed another guitarist. Enter Sam Ray, the most mysterious young man this side of London. Another old work mate of Danny and Damo, Sam mentioned one day that he could play “a bit of guitar”. Modesty is quite clearly a habit the young Sam has mastered. He proceeded to tear his guitar to pieces all the while pulling the most viscous of facial expressions, which proved to be quite a surprise judging by how quiet he was upon first impressions. Together, Sam and Danny Fury proved to be the rawest duo since Chas n’ Dave, Simon and Garfunkel, Rossi and Parfitt with the marital bliss of Ike and Tina, they’re still deciding who’s who. So together, Damo Holmes, Lee Brewster, Oliver Parker, Danny Fury and Sam Ray decided they would fight the evil perils of crap music, except they couldn’t find any spandex costumes that fit properly so leather jackets and filthy jeans would have to do. “Down with artificial music movements” our heroes cried, and ever since have stuck to their guns, only to be unpopular with most bands embroiled in their mid 90’s indie, shoe gazing, emo movements who think that speaking with a Mancunian accent when you are in fact born in Bethnal Green is fashionable. We gigged as The Base for a little over a year and it was only recent that the boys were threatened by a girl band that if they carried on using the name they had chosen first that they would come around and kick the ever loving shit out of them. So in order to overcome that embarrassment and regain their masculinity they decided on a name that made them sound hard. So metro riots was born…………
