Artist description
Chris Stevens (Banjo, Acoustic Guitar, Vocals) was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and raised on old-time Canadian Fiddle Music.
Although exposed to Maritime sounds all his life, it wasn't until he was fifteen that he found Bluegrass.Inspired by this hard-driving music,
he studied recordings of the legendary Osborne Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs, Stanley Brothers, Joe Val and Jimmy Martin. Chris started
playing banjo professionally at the age of seventeen and lent his support to a dozen or more bands until he helped form Tumbleweed.
With this hot combo, Chris found the vehicle to express some long overdue sounds. He has been nominated six years in a row for the
British Columbia Country Music Association's "Instrumentalist Of The Year" and is highly in demand as a session player. Chris' banjo
virtuosity can also be heard on k.d. lang's dreamy soundtrack for the film "Even Cowgirls Get The Blues".
