Press Reviews
Hundred Acre Woods played their first show at the Brown Bag in Modesto with Tom Golden and Sunset Orange. Around seventy people showed up to watch these guys and the other two acts rock the Brown Bag. This show was a lot better than the previous Hundred Acre Woods show I saw.
Every aspect of their performance was impressive. There was so much energy in their music which had been a problem in the other show of theirs I saw. They took all their faults from the Delhi Middle School show and fixed them to almost perfection. The crowd was involved from the beginning of the set to the end. After the show I had the chance to talk to some people and the overall attitude was that these guys and girl were great and they want to see them play the Brown Bag again. The owners of the Brown Bag agreed and Hundred Acre Woods should be playing there again very soon.
Neil's vocals were crisp and clear and his stage presence was awesome While Justin with those freaky contacts gave a somewhat creepy vibe while he screamed louder than I thought humanly possible. The crowd seemed to go crazy when he screamed the vocals to "You Need Me." Also there was Amber. She was the only female musician performing that night and she did us girls proud. During her awesome drum solo the crowd couldn't stop screaming. She gives all of us chick musicians hope.
Then there was Zach. I'm proud of this guy because he actually moved while on stage. Shocking but true. On an earlier review I said that he didn't move at all but he changed all that. Now he still needs to work on his stage presence but there was a definite improvement. His playing as always was great and there isn't much else to say for that except that he has talent fo sho.
On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give their show an 8. They played extremely well and the crowd seemed to enjoy it. The one thing they need to work on now is working their set list right. The order of their songs was completely off the mark but for a band that hasn't done too many shows that is quite common. If they could fix that small glitch then they will have it in the bag. |
