Artist History
Formed from the ashes of Seattle’s two most brutal hardcore bands, Left With
Nothing and Contingent, Lahar is an intelligent, massive, and uncompromisingly
aggressive metal hybrid hell bent on taking over the scene and then the world. Shane,
Ken, Tory and Brian have all enjoyed certain levels of success in their former bands, but
those endeavors seemed to all meet untimely deaths do to lack of commitment by less
interested members. Frustrated by this Shane and Ken recruited Tory and Brian to start a
motivated, hard working, take no prisoners heavy metal bone crushing machine. The
combination of the four turned out to be the wrathchild that is Lahar, putting Anthrax
style crossover metal with the aggression of modern hardcore and riffs that would please
the pickiest Slayer or Pantera fan. Lahar is an American style metal band, although fans
of the Gothenburg thrash scene and somewhat influenced by classics such as At The
Gates and The Haunted, Lahar is not another Swedish “Black Metal” clone. Lahar’s
mission is to write the most unmercifully brutal and well thought out music possible
without abandoning their other musical influences (i.e. blues, classic rock, ect…). On
stage Lahar is unmatched as far as sheer intensity and showmanship, there is no need for
make up or flaky gimmicks, these boys bring it on all levels. A landslide or mudflow of
volcanic fragments on the flanks of a volcano, that is the definition of a Lahar it is also an
accurate interpretation of what and who Lahar is and will become.
