Artist description
Getaway Car has arrived and it is ready to burn rubber all over a cookie-cutter rock landscape. The four members, drawn together by a mutual love of pop music with a brain and "Snatch"(the movie), cite artists like Elvis Costello, the Pretenders, Cheap Trick, and of course the Beatles as primary inspirations. These cats know from melody and they lay it on thick with no apologies.
The lead singer of this crew is Todd Wright (a.k.a. Odd Todd, Toddzilla, Todd the Wet Sprocket, and sometimes, simply Ed). This guy sings about his life, which happens to be chock-full of romantic misfortune: ideal fodder for songs that scrape the soul and occasionally elicit a guilty chuckle. You will laugh, you will cry, you will buy the record, enough said.
The lead guitar player is Matt Miceli (a.k.a. Little Matty, Matty Matty Rude and Bratty, Matt "the Terror" Miceli, and most baffling of all - La Bouche). He graduated Summa Cum Loud from the academy of Hendrix, Brian May, and the Edge with each one playing an equal part in the amalgamate of rock that he brings. No living person has ever said that Matt Miceli sucks. In fact, four out of five dentists agree that his guitaring could and did cause dental damage - which, for a rock guitarist, is the highest praise.
On the bass is Chris Reardon (known as Crix - pronounced krê). No one seems to know why he is called this and frankly, no one has ever bothered to ask. No other nickname is known for Crix except "Ass-Hat" which, for purposes of national security, cannot be divulged at this time. He executes this rock with apparent conviction and seems to believe in every note, except for the ones that he clams because of excessive leaping about the stage like a red-assed baboon. Crix also has a serious set of pipes on him and when he and Todd kick the harmony vox, it is tighter than security at a Michael Jackson slumber party.
Their drummer is Dan Garvin (a.k.a. L.D.G., D. to the izz-O. - G. to the izz-A., the Kosher Kingpin). Little Danny lays down chops like Bruce Lee at a martial arts tournament. It has been said that a proper rock band needs a backbone, well T-Rex just called and he wants his spinal column back. Time, style, spades in hand, enemy number one to the decibel police, L.D.G. delivers the goods.
So climb in to the Getaway Car. It is good, it might even be great. But know two things: they drive fast and chicks dig it – that has gotta count for something, I think.
