Artist description
In November of 1998 singer-songwriter Chris Buskey asked several friends from various local bands if they would be willing to play just one show as his backup band. The new group which featured Ian Alsgaard (formerly of Hannah Cranna), as well as James Velvet and Johnny Java (of local luminaries, the Mocking Birds) played their first show together exactly one month later. They’ve been together ever since.
Less than a year after the band debuted, John Lindberg (of the Del Crandalls), who had been attending each and every one of the band’s performances, was asked to join the group. Reluctantly, he agreed to come to the band’s next rehearsal, and to each one after that; in short, he kept coming. Slowly, as the weeks passed, he became less, and less reluctant.
As a five piece, the band’s sound has evolved from the simple country-folk that defined its early existence to something more diverse and truly greater than the sum of its parts. It hardly matters how one defines it, other than to say that it’s somewhere between Harry Smith’s Anthology of American Folk Music, the Zombie’s Odessey and Oracle, Nick Drake’s Pink Moon, and all three Big Star records, with a little bit of White Light/White Heat thrown in for good measure.
One thing we are sure of is this: Just take one listen, and it’s likely you’ll be coming back for more.

Press Reviews
"The High Lonesome Plains' brand of country rock works precisely because it's so distinctive but still manages to sound innately memorable on first listen. Definitely one of the best EPs of the year so far."
-Americana UK
"The best disc to listen to on a blanket with your lover in Edgerton Park as the afternoon drifts into dusk. . . Enjoyable from listen number one."
-Jennifer Dauphinais, New Haven Advocate
"The personification of what Alt-Country surely should be. Capturing the essence of American Folk . . . and cranking it out in a manner reserved for rock idols."
-Gary Vollano, Independisc.com
"Warning: Don't play this CD in your car stereo or you may find yourself dangerously drivin'-n-cryin' like we did, swamped in tears, napkin-tissues piling up everywhere. There's so much feeling and emotion packed into those four songs you can't help but get in touch with your inner crybaby."
-Kathleen Cei, New Haven Advocate
"Neil Young and Crazy Horse meets Big Star with catchy, clever lyrics."
-Rob DeRosa, Thin Man Music
