Artist description
A vocalist/songwriter/fingerstyle guitarist whose powerful pipes easily transitions from sultry softness to ear-bending wails. Her songwriting juxtaposes emotional verbage over deceptively complex melodic structures. Toss in a few straight-up pop ballads for good measure and that about sums it up. |

Artist History
Jaytee Minton (born Jeanne Berry) is a veteran vocalist of several well-known Toledo-area rock bands including Mind's Eye and Bonesgarage; a seasoned songwriter and accomplished fingerstyle guitarist; and a vocalist whose voice has often been compared to Heart's Ann Wilson.
Picking up guitar at age six, she participated in every possible musical and theatrical activity throughout her school years. She performed her first original ballad, "Inside My Memories", during a high school talent contest.
1985-91: Vocalist/bassist for Lansing, MI band "The Task". Recorded 9 songs, one of which received moderate rotation on radio stations in the area without having an album in distribution.
1989-90: Jaytee attended the Musicians Institute (VIT) in Hollywood, CA (under her given name).
1995-97: Vocalist, Toledo-based "Mind's Eye", an all-original progressive grunge band, which had the distinction of opening for national recording artists Slaughter in 1996 at a club in Toledo.
1997: Vocalist, "Stages", all-original melodic rock band. Competed in and placed second in their round in the 1997 Battle of the Bands.
1997-1999: Vocalist, "BonesGarage". Formed by ex-Damien bassist Kevin Kekes, the heavy metal band enjoyed considerable local success and recorded one song, "Crushing Faith", which appears on two compilation CDs: the 1999 Jam Rag Family Album and Sin Klub's Exposed III (2000).
2000-present: Solo Artist. After years in the club circuit singing hard rock and heavy metal, Jaytee returned to her roots and is exploring her softer side. Today, she is writing heartfelt bittersweet ballads and edgy midtempo songs full of self-analysis and introspection. Her style straddles the fence between modern country and "girl-with-guitar" angst rock.
She is currently in the studio working on her debut solo CD, "Trace of Myself", set for independent release in June 2003. She is actively seeking management and label representation. |
