Artist description Royal Roost is an important convergence of musicians and songwriters from New Yorks ska/reggae scene. The group features saxophonists and composers Matthew and Daniel Voss, drummer Glenn Hackett, bassist Tom Mcgee, and guitarists Ben Klingberg and Scott Rath and encourages high-profile guests such as longtime favorites King Django and Buford O’Sullivan. A seminal force, singer/songwriter, producer and entrepreneur, King Django is the founder of Skinnerbox, The Stubborn All-Stars, and Stubborn Records. Trombonist Buford O’Sullivan (The Toasters) continues to be an immensely popular songwriter and personality. Royal Roost is something of an already-arrived success, the members having been a part of the scene for over 10 years (and having worked together in bands such as The Scofflaws, The Bluebeats, etc.), with the same adherence to tradition while proving to be among the most prolific and individually expressive in the genre. The result is a clear portrait of stylists in their element.
