Artist History
Scouts Honor started as an idea rather than a band of people. The idea was to create post-hardcore band that drew influence from acoustic music (country, latin, folk, blues, etc.). Jared Grabb, a long time solo artist and member of various rock bands, sought to make Scouts Honor a reality starting in mid-2002 by creating an extension of his solo project that would include friends as backing musicians. These friends included Dustin Addis (of The Forecast) and Nick Krebill, both whom Jared had played with in other musical groups. So it was, that Jared Grabb With Scouts Honor toured the United States over September and October of 2002, performing in New York City, San Francisco, and over 40 other cities in between. Upon returning home, Dustin and Jared performed at a handful of rock shows in Central Illinois, at which time they were approached by Nick Schone and Jeremiah Lambert (both of the metal/hardcore band Angeltread) about expanding the group. Shortly thereafter, practices began and the foursome hammered out a set of 6 songs. The group also quickly realized that they had outgrown their roots in Jared's solo project and became the full-time band known simply as Scouts Honor. In late January 2003, Scouts Honor recorded "A Spirited Conversation Between a Blind Man and a Mute" with AJ Mogis of Presto Recordings (Cursive, The Faint).
During the summer of 2003, Scouts Honor went on hiatus in order to allow members to spend time with their other respective music projects. Upon reformation, Atomic Satterfield had taken to the drums and Dustin Addis had left to focus on touring with his 3rd band, Minsk. The return to a three-piece brought with it the move to electric instruments and a more visible country/folk influence.
Scouts Honor has shared the stage with such great performers as Planes Mistaken For Stars, The Velvet Teen, Spitalfield, Aloha, Examination Of The..., Ten Grand, Denison Witmer, and Army Of Freshman. They are now stronger than ever, with a new arsenal of songs and a drive to expand like never before. Expect to see extensive touring in the winter months along with an EP and full-length due out within the year. |
