    Artist History
They say 3 is the magic number. Go Cartel like magic numbers. Go Cartel are a 3-piece band based in Cambridge, England. Back in March 2001, the two founder members, Matt and Graham, joined forces and began writing songs under the name Nice Guy Dave. The songs focus on strong melodies and effective dynamics. In a split second, 3 songs were created and the 'Beige Revolution EP' (May 2001) was born. The EP got a good response, with the Bury Free Press calling the mellow second track, 'Back To Front', "a proper summer tune, the kind of thing that becomes a festival anthem". Local radio stations, including Star FM in Cambridge and Peterborough Student Radio, preferred the rockier sounds of 'Pumpkin' and 'My Obsession' and included them on their play-lists. The band then began playing live in July 2001. Their energetic shows ensured them a loyal local fanbase and they continued to write new material. At the start of 2002, the band had perfected 3 new songs live and had the urge to revisit the recording studio. The result - the 'Local Heroes EP' (Feb 2002). Since then, we've found The Right Drummer, Ben Piper, and have had a name change to our new moniker of Go Cartel. The third EP will be available from mid March 2003.
