Artist description
Andy Squint performs a one-man show
combining hamonica solos with guitar
accompaniment. Singing over driving
rhythms and haunting slide guitar, Andy
conveys the stories of blues in the country.
From the pre-war styles of Son House
and Robert Johnson to the contemporary
sounds of Taj Mahal and R.L. Burnside,
traditional blues is well represented.

Artist History
Andy Squint absorbed the blues from the pulse
of the Mississippi River. He grew up in Niles, Michigan,
performing music for the first time at the age of six.
He played drums, vibes, and the saxophone before
embracing the guitar at the age of sixteen. It wasn't
until he moved to Missouri in 1993, though, that he
began to create his unique sound of slide guitar
and harmonica. Sitting with his feet in the Mississippi
River, he would emulate the rhythms of Son House,
while barges thumped past the small town of
Louisiana, Missouri. These days one can hear the
influences of those early Delta players as well as
other blues greats like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf,
John Lee Hooker, Jr. Wells, and R.L. Burnside in
his repertoire.
