Artist History
Cutter was formed in the summer of 2002 by Jesse, Trey, and Jon. Jesse and Trey
had just recently stopped playing with their previous band “Mr. Smith and the Special
Guest” and Jon had just stopped playing with “Fourstar”. So they had a singer, two
guitarists, and a bass player, but no drummer. Well, after attempting to play with several
other drummers they finally settled on the drummer from Jon’s last band, Aaron. So now
all four members were set and coincidentally all from Cheatham Co., Tennessee.
Previous to Cutter, Trey and Jesse played in the successful Nashville punk/ska
band “Cheap Hill” for five years. Cheap Hill played many shows all over Middle
Tennessee and became popular quickly. They split ways with their drummer Kyle Mims,
who is now playing with “Love is Red”, in the summer of 2000 to go college. While
attending MTSU Trey and Jesse formed another successful rock group “Mr. Smith and the
Special Guest”. After six months this band decided to separate and go on to bigger and
better things, or so they say.
Before joining Cutter, Aaron and Jon played in a wide variety of punk rock bands
including Class Act, Out of Place, and Fourstar. It seemed as though the promising “Out
of Place” would soon take off after a Drive-Thru Records showcase, but to the contrary.
Their lead singer abruptly decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue a solo career. Jon
and Aaron were out of luck and out of a band for the time being.
Since they started rehearsing as a full band in November of 2002, Cutter has
played several shows, recorded a demo and gotten merchandise together. Their unique
blend of melodic hardcore and punk have, in the mean time, perked the ears of Spat!
Records out of Nashville, Tennessee. Spat! has requested Cutter to be on their next
compilation to be released in late 2003. They plan to play shows all over the South and
the East Coast in the Summer of 2003, as well.
