Artist History
Seth Yisra'el Lutnick is a singer, composer, writer, dreamer living in Jerusalem and New York. He has recorded two albums of original music. Recent appearances have been in the musical extravaganza "Any Dream Will Do," in a solo cabaret show called "Jerusalem Love" that played in New York and Los Angeles, in a Gilbert and Sullivan concert sposored by the Jerusalem Festival of The Arts, and in the Jerusalem English Speaking Theatre production of the historical drama, "The Disputation." He was born and raised on Long Island, NY. In his home, musical theatre classics and classical music were always playing, so he naturally fell in love with them, listening all the time. He studied piano, and eventually majored in music at Yeshiva University in New York, where he also attended cantorial and rabbinical school. He moved to Israel in the 90s and started a band called "Neim Zmirot Yisrael," which performed at a number of venues and festivals in Israel. It was there that the "Yisra'el" appeared in his name.
He remains extremely impractical, and totally blown away by classic Broadway musicals like Kismet, 1776, Man of La Mancha, anything written by Rodgers and Hammerstein and many things written by Andrew Lloyd Webber. "I cry at shows all the time... it's pretty pathetic. But I just love music that gets you right there," says Lutnick as he punches himself in the stomach. "I want to be a part of that magic, so I sing, write music and dream up stuff." Lutnick continues to "dream up stuff" as he continues his quest to "dream the impossible dream" and write a new musical, screenplay, lots of songs, do some stand-up and perform another one-man show.
