Artist description
Down from the mountains of Utah to the beaches
of southern California, Remedy Motel bring along
their independent debut release
“6 Days in Westchester”. By combining countrified
indie pop sounds with thoughtful, back-road
lyrics and harmonies they also bring a new brand
of music their label is calling “Porch Rock”. |

Artist History
In January of 2002 lead singer Mica Johnson
circulated a CD of a few songs he’d started
writing to a handful of carefully selected
musicians. Attached was a note asking anyone
who was interested in helping him record the
songs to call him. First to ring-up were Mike
DiGregorio and Nate Semerad who had recorded
two previous albums with Mica while playing in
a Salt Lake City band together. Shawn Ryan, a
guitar player from San Diego, who recently
collaborated with Johnson and DiGregorio in a
Los Angeles studio, quickly followed suit.
Finally, native SLC drummer Tim Haren signed
on and completed the recording line-up. The
first meeting of the band spawned five new
songs (all of which landed a track on the album).
Johnson boldly stated that “…it was obvious after
20 minutes that we had to become a band.”
Two months later the 5 members of Remedy Motel
cloistered themselves in a friend’s house
(containing a make-shift recording studio) for
6 days and subsequently emerged with the tracks
for 19 songs. Nineteen self-produced and polished
tracks later it was obvious to everyone that
Remedy Motel was much more than your average band.
The only question is, what will these guys come
up with when they have a month of creative time
together? |

Press Reviews
There's not a hint of 'me too' in Remedy Motel. A blend of
indie pop and folk that's quite delightful!

An Americana group that sounds like Train (if Train were
hip and wrote better songs) co-writing radio hits with Gram
Parsons.
