Artist History
KENT HERNANDEZ
Growing up in Miami, finding something good to listen to was like drawing blood from a stone. After discovering there was more to music than MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice, I decided to try my luck at writing and playing guitar in a couple of garage bands. They all ended up in the same place -- nowhere.
I eventually picked up the keyboard. Having studied classical guitar, I applied my knowledge and began to dabble in programming. Then I discovered Bjork and Massive Attack. That's when the real obsession began. Since then, I've literally been eating, breathing, dreaming about, and having affairs with sweet little beats.
The rest, as they say, is history.
GABRIEL FERNANDEZ
It wasn’t until I was 18 that I stumbled into music like one would stumble into an active volcano wearing a blindfold. Consumed by the monster that would then be released, I haven’t had one day go by that music hasn’t been the sole purpose for me waking up.
Yeah, that sounds great -- but now the truth: I accidentally found out that I liked to sing and through the help of good friends developed a love and passion for writing and performing.
In addition to The Phoenix Life, I also front a rock band called Day Music Died, which has been together for about three years and counting.
