    Artist description
ThaMoeJo was founded by veteran guitarist Greg Moore (aka "G. Moe") — an acclaimed artist who has played with the likes of Whitney Houston, Maxwell, Patti LaBelle and Stevie Wonder, Barry White, the Temptations, Janet Jackson and Brian McNight. After many successful years performing with others, the Detroit-born guitarist, producer and songwriter decided to direct some of his energy into his own music. G. Moe gathered together ace musicians Kerry K. T. Turman (bass), Tefere Hazy (drums), and Michael "Money" Fowler (rhythm guitar) and, in 2000, ThaMoeJo was born. The result is MoeJo— the band's debut release. A mix of funk, hip-hop, rap and classic R&B, the recording ranges from the edgy to the seductive. Unlike most modern urban-toned releases, which rely on synthesized instruments and samples from other artists' music, MoeJo features original tunes and live instruments. The recording is driven by G. Moe's tight, searing guitar work and horn sections that evoke such artists as Earth, Wind and Fire and Parliament Funkadelic. Written and produced by G. Moe, the CD's 12 tracks are a blend of the seductive funk and soul of the good old days and the bad-ass attitude of the modern urban gangsta. Cuts range from the edgy "Punkmotha F*****" (which says it like it is on behalf of all those who have to keep their mouths shut to keep their jobs), "Crackhead," and the harshly honest "F*** You" (who hasn't wanted to say that to an ex?) to rhythmic dance tunes such as "Who's That Lady" and "I Watch the Girls" to sultry love songs like the Marvin Gaye-inspired, "Come on Home." G. Moe has been a highly sought after guitarist for more years than he likes to admit to. Among his main influences are Marvin Gaye (with whom he performed) and Donny Hathaway. His work is also influenced by Maxwell, with whom G. Moe performed and recorded for more than three years. His recording credits include writing and performing the theme song and background music for "The Bernie Mac Show" and the "Steve Harvey Show," performing the music for the television show "Girlfriends" and the movie "Undercover Brother" and doing a stint as a guest artist for Michael Jackson's 30th anniversary special. Other film and television credits include the film "Marci X," "La Bada," "Hollywood Shuffle," and Robert Townsend HBO specials.
