Artist description
Pep Rally Friday originally started during the school year of 2002.
Members Doug Berman and Kyle McDonnell met in the fall of their freshman
year. Both being guitar players, and Doug a semi-decent singer, they started to
write songs in their dorm room. From there, the group has come a long way in
just one year. This past year Jeff White joined the group as their new drummer
and the three instantly clicked. Inspired by groups like RX-Bandits, Finch,
The Starting Line and Something Corporate, the group went off in their own
direction creating a sound both similar, and very different to the bands
that had inspired them to start writing and playing in the first place.
They have played many shows, the majority of them being at their boarding
school. It seems impossible to find much time to play elsewhere because of
their commitment to a demanding school, however they kept playing and
writing in hopes that one day their music can take them beyond playing at
their high school.
In the spring of 2003, Pep Rally Friday recorded their first EP at Tapeworks
Studios in Hartford, CT entitled "tomorrow...i promise", a 5 track demo consisting
of three "power-pop/punk style" songs, one acoustic track, and one live acoustic track
performed by Kyle and Doug at a show in Pittsburgh this past summer. The group has put alot
of their own time and money into this demo, hoping that they can gain
enough profit to start touring. Being at such a diverse prep-school, they hope
their sales there and elsewhere will spread their music all over New England and
hopefully beyond. The group is not expecting too much out of their music, they just
hope it can be loved and respected by those who share the same love for music that
they do.
