Artist History
Andy Forgie began his professional career in the mid 70s in Belleville, Ontario Canada. He composed & recorded for Quality Records in Canada and Buddha Records in the USA with the original "Creed", who created a regional stir with the single "Westminster Abbey". During the 70s Andy and the band opened concerts for top 70's acts, "Edward Bear","The Stampeders" & "A Foot in Cold Water" and also shared billing with rock & roll pioneer Wolfman Jack. The band toured throughout Ontario, Quebec & the Maritimes and performed American showcases in Manhattan & various New York state colleges.
In the 1980s Andy, as lead vocalist & composer for Canadian pop group "Photograph", released an album for Capitol Records on the Parlophone Label. The debut single of The Photgraph Album "The Last Dance" received national recognition & charted in the top 10 in various Canadian markets. During the recording of the album Andy worked in the studio with Daniel Lanois (producer for U2, Bob Dylan) and Tom Cochrane. During this time Photograph toured with The Monks and opened for April Wine, Toronto, Goddo and Blue Rodeo.
Andy began to focus on children's/family entertainment in the 1990s and produced & starred in children's program "The Song Shop" on Community Television in the
Belleville and Quinte region. He also appeared on the History channel in
"Sketches of Our Town" and Opened for television legend Bob Newhart and
Impressionist Andre Phillip Gagnon. In the mid 1990’s Andy produced two independent Children's CD's to his "My Stuff" & "The Street I Lived On", the latter featuring Canadian icon the late Bob Homme (The Friendly Giant)
Presently Andy Forgie performs in "All You Need Is Love", a celebration of The Beatles, which helps support The Shelter Foundation (a national organization aiding abused women & children), touring throughout Ontario & USA. Andy also performs an acoustic one-man show of classic 60s & 70s pop songs at various nightspots in Belleville, Quinte & Prince Edward County. Another aspect of Andy’s career sees him perform timeless favourites at retirement & nursing homes. Andy also continues to entertain at children's festivals, schools & various family gatherings year round. Andy along with Mark Rashotte, Vitas Slapkauskas and John Paul Murphy is once again performing with Photograph at various events in the Quinte area.
