Artist description
A first question might be "what sort of music do these guys play?" Or perhaps, "what sort of influences do they have?"
Well, to be particularly honest, we might just sound Sort of like a lot of things, depending on the song and depending on the musical mood at a particular time. In general, you might consider the sound to be pop with inflections of jazz, funk, and a lot of rhythmic interplay that all build from our individual senses of musicianship.

Artist History
SORT is made up of four student musicians, Matt Pooley, Blake Wayman, Jeff Bartolini, and Max Butler. Their sound mixes their individual backgrounds of alt-rock, drum corps efforts, jazz bass, and blues keys and organs playin' - all into a melting pot of original jams left and right. The short version of the story is that Matt, Blake and Jeff met in November 2001 during their first year at Bates College and pulled together regular jam sessions into what is now Sort. They met Max a year later, in September 2002, and are now a four-piece rock band with a full-length studio release, "The Loud Room", a growing fan base, and a summer potentially full of gigging to mark their continuing growth. |
