Artist History
Spawned in August 2000, Mordancy was formed in Astoria Queens, NYC. At this time, the band was nameless. The band was originally a joke. Aside from the real musicians in the band, Ari on guitars, and Pete on bass, the band remained unserious. Having a fat crippled freak on vocals, and a dirty black, homeless, heroin addict with one leg on the drums.
As time past, Ari and Pete decided to loose the fat freak and recruited Dave on vocals. The band had become serious but still lacked permanent music. Song writing was difficult because the drummer was a dirty black, homeless, heroin addict with one leg who couldn't think straight and couldn't write good beats.
The band was then trying to figure out a name for themselves. A friend of the band named Jason (who was at the time, the front man for melodic black metal band Autumn Witch) came up with the name, Ungodly Hunger. The name suited the band well, as they all shared an interest in zombies, demons and other ungodly creatures that feast on living flesh. The members kept the name and hit the studio for song writing.
It was seemingly impossible for the band to write serious songs with a dirty black, homeless, heroin addict with one leg, so they decided it was best he went back to living amongst the rats and insects in the subway. They then recruited Jason, who was not officially a drummer but had enough know how to pull it off. The band was now 100% serious and ready to write real music.
Ungodly Hunger released their self titled demo, September 23, 2001. The band has shared the stage with acts such as Deicide, Immortal Flesh and Utopia Banished. Although the band was experiencing their differences, they managed too keep their heads up, and their problems aside.
Since women have a way of bringing things down, and jobs make it almost impossible to stay loyal to rehearsal, Ungodly Hunger split off into their own different directions. Peter had joined industrial goth band "Hate in the Box." Ari had put his guitar talent aside for the time being, while Dave and Jason were planing to create a band 100 times as brutal.
Dave and Jason then formed Mordancy. A mixture of Grindcore and Death Metal so brutal it'll make you want to mutilate small animals. Despite all the problems the ex-Ungodly Hunger members endured with each other, they all remain good friends. Live Mordancy features: Dave: vocals, Jason: guitars and backing vocals, Ari: guitars, Tasso: bass, and live drummer. The brutality of Mordancy grows stronger and strong with every new song. The ungodly few continue to move forward...
