Artist History
GAS GIANT is a four piece heavy psychedelic space rock band from Křbenhavn, Denmark. The band played under the name Blind Man Buff for several years before deciding on a new name in 1998. The band is currently: Tommy (Drums), Thomas (Bass) and Stefan (Guitar) and Jesper (Vocals) with guest player Scott (Synthesizer). The band members have been playing for more than 12 years on the Danish music scene. The band mixes influences from 60’s and 70’s bands like the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath with more modern bands like Kyuss and Monster Magnet. All of the bands songs are developed out of their dedicated two to three times a week rehearsal jams and most of the bands songs have a catchy core to them. GAS GIANT stand out amongst the field of bands in this genre by producing mature songs with strong melodies without forgetting their HEAVY roots and just listen to that guitar...... |

Press Reviews
Gas Giant is a Danish band that may very well be the supreme ruler of the genre of modern space rock. Their domain is clearly the sky and all that lies beyond it. Their sound is enormous (think: galaxy of fuzz) and yet they are only a three piece band (usually four, but currently three). These three songs put them head and shoulders above the sea of Kyuss worshippers and Hawkwind wannabe's. These are voyages through the cosmos that take you close by the beauty of the crab nebula; voyages that let you feel the power of the solar winds; voyages that take you to see the black hole at the center of the universe. Space is deep and so are the astral excursions that Gas Giant masquerade as songs. Spiralling outward from some central song-core-seed, each journey takes you through tempo changes, mood changes, texture, temperature and elevation changes. This Gas Giant release allows you to "take a trip and never leave the farm"... Your ship leaves now.

Gas Giant vs WE - Riding The Red Horse To The Last Stronghold Of The Freaks
Burnt Hippie Recordings Release Date: OUT NOW! LP
The best "vinyl only" release so far this year... come to think of it, it´s the best split release so far also... I know, there haven't been that many split releases as usual this year, but this one is even better than the Acid King / Clearlight split... and you're gonna have to release something amazing to beat that one... If you're a Gas Giant fan you might have heard the three songs that make up their side of this 12" before... their available on the 5 CD "Live Series" released earlier this year by Burnt Hippie Recordings (if you're into stonerrock and still haven't gotten those 5 CD-R´s, you've been missin´ out on some great stuff). FIRE TRIPPER are a scorching rocker with a great groove, it´s immediately followed by one of the best tunes these dudes have put to tape to date... NEVER LEAVE THIS WAY... that tune is both heavy and trippy in a still that's slightly reminiscent of fellow danes On Trial... one of those where you'll feel slightly stoned while listening even if you haven't burned any herb... a potent mix of psychedelia and hard rock... RIDE THE RED HORSE mixes the heaviness of "Fire tripper" with the tripped out groove of "Never Leave This Way"... and Gas Giant got another winner on their hands..

An absolute belter! It’s rare for me to recommend something that’s vinyl only, but the sheer class of this ultra potent stoner/psych/space-rock hybrid puts it in a league that is absolutely aeons ahead of even anything that’s on the Mans Ruin Label right now, and that’s saying a lot, believe me. The combination of largely lengthy tracks, with some of the best compositions, the wildest electric bass and the most scorching electric guitar solos and all around on-fire playing from each band, will have you open mouthed in disbelief at how good the real thing can be in the hands of masters such as this. Whether you can play vinyl or have to get it burned to CD by a friend, you owe yourself to get this album before it disappears for good (there won’t be a CD). It really is that excellent!

GAS GIANT- Pleasant Journeys In Heavy Tunes, CD, Burnt Hippie Records
Gas Giant, together with On Trial, must be the best bands coming out of Denmark since the 70´s... talk about heavy psychedelia... this... is... stoner rock. It took a while before I got my hands on this eminent album, but it was worth the wait. "Too Stoned" sounds a bit like a cross between Farflung and The Awesome Machine, in other words it manages to get both the trippy and heavy side of stoner rock to work in perfect harmony... "Sit Down" makes me think of both Nebula and Generous Maria. "Down The Highway" have a lot in common with both Monster Magnet and Dozer... I can go on like this with comparisons for every song... My favorite tracks on this album are "All Creatures", with it´s early Monster Magnet vibe, and the fuzz drenched "Freak Sensation"... and of course "Too Stoned"... talk about a stoner rock anthem... Shure Gas Giant got their influences, but it´s something about this album that sets it apart from the bands I´ve mentioned earlier... I can´t quite put the finger on what it is, all you have to know is that this is a great album... Recommended!!!

Gas Giant's "Pleasant journey into Heavy Tunes" is highly recommended for those seeking an artful blend of Stoner and Trip-rock...Also a good starting point for those just getting hip to this type of music. Nothing conventional or expected here. It's rock n' roll with a whole lot of imagination.

GAS GIANT - Pleasant journey in heavy tunes CD
What a pleasure . After all those average releases in that genre with Gas Giant there is a newcomer, who is really professional. The sound is mostly Stoner Rock but with a complexion, which is impressive. The opener has a monster riff with a great production. The big plus is that fantastic singer. He has all a good vocalist needs. A raw and melodical voice which fits on all parts on the album perfect ! His voice is Stoner Rock untypical and that`s great. The second plus are the songs. After 3 or more runnings you are addicted. Sometimes they remind me of Monster Magnet but not as copy, only the influence is andible.Great album with a lot of class ! Listen to Too Stoned , Supa Sun Trigger and Desert Call and you know what I mean.I think Gasgiant will have a great future. Not only for Stoner fans. So big, Metal and Rock fans check it out and give them a chance. That band is modern and old fashioned in one way.....B I G !!!!!!

GAS GIANT - "Pleasant Journey In Heavy Tunes" CD '00 (Burnt Hippie, Den)
"Great stuff here, man, this is heavy and grooving, but not a typical stoner clone by any means. No, Denmark's GAS GIANT make a very original mark in the genre by employing a quite psychedelic, trippy edge to their stuff, a la "...Red Sun"-era Kyuss. They also employ a striking vocalist in Jesper Valentin and a wonderful guitarist, Stefan Krey, who's vibrato recalls the godly Paul Kossoff. This is an excellent disc, mega-promising output from this exciting new Danish label. http://www.burnthippie.dk"
