    Artist description
This intense, moody quartet is fronted by bewitching singer / guitarist Jennifer Tefft whose vocals can “dance like raindrops on a rooftop” (Metroland) or slam into your stomach without warning, driving the music into a dynamic frenzy. At every performance, Tefft becomes part of the musical expression, constantly in trance-like motion, often times launching herself into the audience. The intensity and the energy of their live show often takes people by surprise and when people leave a JTB show, they are already making plans to come back.

    Artist History
Ok, its a long story, but here is the short version. Jennifer Tefft is the front woman of this dark, moody, intense quartet. She grew up in Medfield, MA (best known for its loony bin state hospital and boxer Peter McNeeley, who spent 80 seconds in the ring with Mike Tyson before kissing the mat!). Before she took the plunge into the music world, she was a gymnast and a runner. She spent the better part of her childhood being healthy, now she is a musician...enough said. She wrote her first song in the 8th grade and the desire to make music has haunted her like a bad cold ever since. Jennifer met John Parrillo (guitar) through a mutual friend and the two formed an acoustic duo named Living In Exile. They stumbled into existence in the summer of ‘94. It was the beginning of a great writing and musical relationship. The duo played together for a year and a half. They wrote a lot of material and explored the depths of Boston’s acoustic world, but always felt their music was begging for a band. In February of ‘96 Jason DeWaard joined the group on bass. At their first gig as a trio, Jim Hollister decided that they needed a drummer and that he should be that drummer--the band agreed! They formed a band called Rattlebox (now called the Jennifer Tefft Band) and moved into the realm of alterna-trip-rock. In need of rent money, Jennifer taught herself to play guitar and headed underground to play solo in the streets and subways of Cambridge, MA. Besides being a great way to make rent money, it was a great way to cut her teeth as a writer and performer. It is also what inspired her to put out a solo album “Dig This Thing”. This disc was released in October of ‘97 to enthusiastic response and critical acclaim, including a BOSTON MUSIC AWARD nomination, a showcase with AEROSMITH and a spot in the finals of both the LILITH FAIR SHOWCASE and the DISCMAKERS INDEPENDENT MUSIC WORLD SERIES. This year brings the release of the follow up to “Dig This Thing”. A collaborative effort from the whole band entitled “B-SIDES TO NOTHING”. B-Sides To Nothing is the follow up to JenniferTefft’s critically acclaimed debut album. It is a collaborative effort between all the members of the band, Jennifer Tefft, John Parrillo (guitar, Jim Hollister (drums) and Jason DeWaard (bass). Shortly after the release of this album, bassist Jason DeWaard left the band to pursue other interests. In November of ‘98, JTB welcomed new member, bassist Dave Cardin to the band. The songs for this record were written in a variety of different ways. Some were born on an acoustic guitar when John and Jennifer first began writing together. Others were created spontaneously in the bowels of Jason’ s house (otherwise known as the rehearsal space) while the band jammed together. Still others were written by Jennifer in her living room. The result is an eclectic collection of moody, groove-oriented trip-rock tunes. These tunes, although written in a variety of formats, were all developed and nurtured on stage during live performances. As a result, they are representative of the intense energy and power of the band’s live show. The album has been well received at college radio, spinning on over 200 stations nationwide, charting top 30 on many of them and reaching #1 on WMEB in Orono, ME and #2 on WPNR in Utica, NY. “B-Sides” has also been getting great reviews in newspapers and magazines around the northeast including The Noise...”This is an album that pleases, fulfills and perfects the alternative genre it finds itself in, yet goes on to completely transcend and take the whole idea of a “groovy-alterna-trip rock” album...to a new level.” The band is on the road non-stop promoting this record and trying out the new material they have already started writing! Recently they recorded a live demo of some of this new material while broadcasting live over the internet on Radioboston.com.
