Artist History
While RED is Hester's first solo endeavor, this former ball bearing salesman is no stranger to theworld of radio and record stores. During the lasthalf of the 80's and continuing into the 90's, Eric was the principal songwriter, guitarist, and lead vocalist for the Southwest-based alternative band The Young Professionals. Their aggressive style of chain saw pop, tight harmonies and energetic performances, helped them become a CMJ staple. Eric later became one-half of the nationally acclaimed male acoustic duo The PanHandlers. After completing a 1995 North America tour, the duo relocated to Portland, Oregon. Hester now calls Madison, Wisconsin home. |

Press Reviews
Hester is from Portland, Ore., and he's earned his share of accolades since moving to that fertile scene from New Mexico about five years ago. He is a past winner of the Song of the Year and Best Performer awards from the Portland Songwriters Association as well this year's winner of the Americana song of the Year by the same organization.Hester's style combines the smooth flow of many contemporary folkies with an edgy lyrical and playing style informed by his years in punk rock bands. |
