Artist description
67x formed in early 1999 by guitarist/songwriter Jon Joseph Dodds. 2 CD projects were completed and released on the internet with moderate success, including the song “Where will you go” which made it as high as 152 on the Garageband.com charts of over 50,000 songs competing for a $250.000.00 recording contract, and “Crown of Thorns” which dominated #1 spot on the CMJ’s Metal Charts for months.
In January 2001, as Jon was ready to record the next 67x CD, solo without vocalist James Fox, he was contacted by Rob Weese via e-mail. Rob had learned of 67x on the internet and thought that he might be able to lend his guitar talents to the band. After Jon listened to a recording of Rob that arrived in his mail box one day, Jon was instantly captivated by Rob’s playing style and abilities.
The next task was to find the right individuals to complete the band. Rob and Jon were not in need of a rhythm section, but were seeking a bass player and drummer with whom they could blend all the sounds into one solid work of art. Craig was soon found to be the perfect blend of both instrument and voice.
With most of the songs written by Jon prior to all the pieces coming together, 67x immediately hit the studio and cranked out 12 songs. After a long, long, long, long, long mixing and mastering period… The “first” 67x CD called “67x” was ready. In the short few months since the CD has been completed (around May 2001) 67x has enjoyed a great public reception to their music.
Hundreds of CD-R pre-releases have been sold. Thousands and thousands of people have downloaded songs off of the internet, and 67x has come to be a regular top 3 band on the rock charts at www.soundclick.com
With the new 67x being really just a few months old, currently preparing the live show and writing songs that outshine the current material for the next release, it seems to be not a matter of if great success happens for the band, but a matter of when.
Jon say’s “If we attract enough attention, success will come to us rather than us having to chase it down.” What is the success that the guys seek? All 67x really wants is for people to enjoy their music and live show.
