Artist History
60 Foot Sammy was formed in 1998 by songwriter Joe Rayburn (Spin Records) and drummer Matt Blakeley (Balistix). Seeking to create an exciting new sound, Rayburn and Blakeley began seeking artists with diverse backgrounds and influences. First to join Sammy was guitarist John Shelton (Fender Guitars). At only 19, he was already associating with some of Fender’s top performers. Singer/Songwriter Derek Hames became involved in the winter of 1998 along with keyboardist Ric Dwinnell. After solidifying the line-up and creating the first compositions, Sammy added seasoned gospel vocalist Chris Clinton (Living Word). A rotating line-up of talented women accompany Sammy along with the Not-So-Dirty Quarter Dozen horn section. |
