Artist description
Zhu has sought to combine healing modalities with musical composition, creating a soundscape that cultivates an atmosphere, where in which one can pause, reflect, and restore a sense of peace and personal well-being. Zhu combines live piano recordings with guitar, harp, and orchestra. He writes multi-layered compositions characterized by soaring melodies, and sophisticated but subtle chromaticisms. Zhu is a Reiki Master. Reiki is a non-invasive Japanese healing modality. Zhu combines his music with this modality, in a thriving private practice in Toronto. Zhu states, "I have found that music is the vehicle through which I can share my discoveries with the world." |

Artist History
Zhu (a pseudonym) began his formal musical training at the age of six, studying piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music, in Toronto, for thirteen years. He then went on to complete the McMaster University Bachelor of Music - Theory and History degree in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, specializing both in composition and orchestration. Next came the Bachelor of Education programme at the University of Western Ontario, with a major in vocal music. Zhu, a music teacher, often also works as a rehearsal pianist for several vocalists in the Greater Toronto Region. |
