    Artist History
Date of Birth: June 6 1962 Birth place: Mpilo hospital Bulawayo Family background: he was born in a music loving family. "My father (says Themba) used to play the solo euphunium in the Salvation Army and my grandfather who I lived with since I was a child is still a pastor in the "Army of God." "My father Phineas Ncube and his brothers notable Daniel P. Ncube who is the chairman of the Jazz club in Bulawayo and everything else that has to do with Jazz in "the city of kings", also played in bands, in and around Bulawayo during their youth, but they later quit playing not because they did not enjoy music but because during their time music was considered to be just a part time thing in my country... it did not pay that much to be a musician. My father's notable contribution in music was when he was a member of the "Golden Rhythm Crooners" a band still going strong today under the name of the "Cool Crooners". So it is no suprise that my interest in music started at an early age." Flag of Zimbabwe Zimbabwean Flag My first encounter with music Like most horn players in Southern Africa, Temba Ncube started of in church, in the Salvation Army. "When I was about 7 and attending Mzilikazi Primary School, musical groups from South Africa wuold come to our school and give perfomances.... groups like Mahotella Queens , Mahlathini, and many others. That is when I knew that my life belonged in the entertainment business. So when I was 9 years old I started taking music lessons at school. My music teacher who in later years I play many gigs in Bulawayo was Chirandza, a very seasoned jazz piano player. l later I moved to Harare. There I learnt how to play guitar and trumpet, which I still play to day.
