We're a bunch of upstate NY suburbanites lookin' to cause a lil' ruckus, we despise politicians and mean women, but we love Bruce Campbell movies and thrift stores! We like to mesh melody with a pinch of chaos whenever possible, and we love our fans, so if you want some lovin' love us? |

Artist History
Welfare originated in 1999, well before either Mike (guitar) or Andy (drummer) had become decent on thier instruments. Now they could lie to you and say that no recordings remain of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" covers gone awry, but they won't. The two fooled around for awhile until finally pleading to Phil (Bassist) enough for him to join. Even though not initailly promising, the three decided to keep at it, bringing in a second guitarist (and self-proclaimed singer) to "front" the band. Adam was lead singer for Welfare for approximately two weeks, and a bad cover of "What's My Age Again" still remains somewhere, reminding the band they made the right choice in finding Brandon (vocals), the final addition to Welfare. The band's lineup was now complete and the guys were ready to start preparing to play out. About a year after Welfare first took shape, Adam left the band. But the band kept going, with Mike taking over as lead guitarist. Now the band has played such local clubs as Tremors, The Bug Jar, Millennium, and of course, The Penny Arcade. And they hope to keep making music for awhile, or until they can find a way to sell out.
