Artist History
Sumhate is the culmination of two
bands from the Chicago area that got
their start in the late 80’s.In 1993 the
two bands combined to form what is
currently Sumhate. Since then there
were various name changes, until
finally agreeing on Sumhate, a name
that reflects the power and
aggression of the music. The band has
played countless shows in the Tristate
area, including opening for national
acts such as Riot, Savatage, Gwar,
Prong, and David T. Chastain. They have
also been featured in magazines such
as Hit Parader, Metal Edge, RIP, and
Kerrang. Their brush with celebrity is
some members playing in a garage
band with Billy Corgan.(As seen on
VH1’s “Before they were rock stars”.
Sumhate has recorded six demo’s
since it’s inception consisting of all
original material. They draw their
influences from bands like Black
Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and
Metallica, while being compared to
current bands like Godsmack and
Drowning Pool. Everyone contributes
when writing original songs, both
musically and lyrically. The songs
cover a wide range of topics from
current events, the decay of society,
and the deepest, darkest secrets kept
by mankind. |
