Artist description
This volatile roots country ensemble was founded in July 2001 by Calgary-based musicians Shane Roberts, Chris Lamb, and Mark Wendlandt. Creating raw and infectious songs fueled by an earnest telling of rural life and the outlaw image, Slow Talking Walter gained quick acceptance on the Calgary scene, playing gigs at the Karma Local Arts House, The Ship & Anchor, and Edmonton's Dinwoody Lounge among others. A major lineup change in mid-2002 brought the band bassist Kevin James and drummer Darell Hartlen from the Toronto music scene. The new talent became the driving bottom-end, helping create Slow Talking Walter's distinctive sound. |
