Artist History
Lapse of Irony began in the winter of 2002 by two guitarists Justin and Chip. The long-time friends wanted to start a band with a female singer that mixed elements of atmospheric rock and metal. In December of 2002, Bethany joined and the three immediately began writing music and recorded the song "Phagophobia". With no drummer, they used keyboards to simulate drums for the song and posted it on mp3.com. This song demonstrated that there was much potential to the sound and atmosphere of the band. Searching for a drummer proved hard, but three months later they found Matt. Now as a four-piece, the band began practicing and writing music full time. In a small bedroom full of equipment and bodies, ten songs were completed in the span of a couple months. The songs "Photomania" and "Nostomania" were video taped at a practice and put into mp3 format for mp3.com. The band played a few shows in August 2003 to test the waters and were received well. In September they recorded and self-produced their debut 3 song demo, with mastering done in October. So in short, the band is new, with fresh ideas and many diverse backgrounds that will benefit the Arizona music scene and whole world for that matter. |
