Artist History
A bassist into thrashcore and rockabilly meets a guitarist into Swedish death metal and Abba circa Waterloo. They in turn meet a mild mannered young lady obsessed with Thom Yorke and Matt Bellamy. Danger ensues. The three of them form under the name "Prince William's Sex Life" in England, only to return to the states and change their name to The Cardinal Laws. Originally committed to lo-fi percussions in the way of a 1987 Casio synthesizer for the production of drum beats, they later forsake the synth for a drummer, Dan Dion. The band go on to record their first EP under the production of Eamonn Aiken. Aiken's musical talents are immediately realized by the band, however, and the decision is made to add a second guitarist, thereby undoing their minimalist rock roots. The band immediately garners a substantial following from the area of Boston, with their live shows becoming the defining feature of the band's persona. |
