Artist description
Conjuring thoughts of similarly diverse bands such as Phish and The Allman Brothers, Waylandsphere stays anchored to well-crafted, thoughtful lyrics that encourage brief musical departures. Other songs in their repertoire include powerful instrumentals that simply let the music speak for itself. With highly adept instrumentation, perceptive lyrics and a penchant for improvisation, Waylandsphere has quickly developed as a preeminent live act. It is difficult to define exactly what makes this band so appealing but as their rapidly expanding audience will attest, their music provides something for everyone. From the most critical musician to the light-hearted fan, their live performance is undeniably exciting and positively fun... |

Artist History
In today's musical landscape, existing genres collide in order to form explosive collaborations of rock, blues, jazz and funk. A wonderful result of this synchronicity is represented in the music of Raleigh-based Waylandsphere. Back in the early months of 2002, Stephen Koster and David Titchener of Raleigh, NC, were joined by Tommy Fowler and Matt Levine of Chapel Hill, NC to form the band known as Waylandsphere. These seasoned musicians bring together a vast spectrum of musical influences that incorporate everything from the most intricate polyrhythmic beats to soaring journeys of guitar and key. |
