Artist History It took nearly a decade to conceive and complete the Shock Therapy CD. Through robberies, family troubles, and life threatening car accidents, this debut album was finally finished in the late summer of 2001. Jovial Rogue is an original rock 'n roll band out of St. Louis, MO. Every song written carries a different message; some events are true and some events are true, but full of slightly disturbing humorous bullshit. "One thing I'm not going to write a lot about is love, hate, and depression. There are so many groups that provide that type of music already. I'm relatively happy most of the time so I don't have to write about how my dad hits me or how I don't get along with my inner idiot very well. I'll just watch different TV shows or go get Gregg and Matt drunk for lyrical inspiration", says Ron Stanley, songwriter and vocalist for Jovial Rogue. Ron grew up in the same neighborhood as Gregg Kersting and Brian Albers. They went to the same high school and played the same sports together - hockey and baseball being the major focus. So naturally we would have to record an original music CD together. Matt Brannan grew up near Jerseyville, Illinois, about an hour north of St. Louis. He is currently attending college at St. Louis University. Ron and Brian were just starting to search for a bass guitar player one day when they met Matt at Crestwood Guitar Center, and the rest became history. Both Gregg and Brian are influenced musically by Staind, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Slipknot, Metallica, Disturbed, Tool, Rage Against The Machine, System of a Down and Pantera. On the other side of the music world, bands such as The Beatles, Kiss, Led Zepplin, Ozzy Osbourne, Boston, Journey, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, ZZ Top, and Eric Johnson influenced Matt and Ron. After the Shock Therapy CD was completed, the band began rehearsing for live shows in a loft in downtown St. Louis. Gregg Kersting, lead & background vocalist for Jovial Rogue says; "Our original songs are the type of songs that will tap you on the shoulder and make you listen whether you like it or not". We all realize this project is a roller coaster full of the best of times, yet punctuated with moments of sheer terror. We are bracing for the unknown and hopefully as the song says, we go all the way.
