Biography
Chad Fisher
Chad Fisher is a guitarist songwriter who brings jazz, folk, and modern electronic styles together in
his original and artistic music.
As the guitarist and songwriter for the eclectic jam band T.J.I.F (The James in Flames 1995-2001)
Chad has performed at many of Michigan's premiere clubs and bars.
After disbanding T.J.I.F. Chad focused on jazz. As a result, the music of Miles Davis and Chic Corea became the
creative force behind Trio UP^ (2002-present), Chad's trio with drummer Jason Adams and Bassist Lars Jensen.
At this time, Chad also recorded his first solo record Acoustic/Electronic in 2002. It features instrumental
jams and mellow songs of life. Album Review from City Pulse magazine by Chris Wardell
Currently, Chad is writing and recording his second solo effort and studying at Northern Michigan University
in rustic Marquette, Michigan. |

NEW ON DISC
Chad Fisher "Acoustic/Electronic"
by Chris Wardell
The life of a singer songwriter has to be a tough one. To be alone with a guitar or piano is to confess. In the long road that is a career, you're either leading or being followed by what one says in song.
Blueprints have been written over and over, for many who aspire to reach the mythical, prodigious ground of rock nirvana. Local singer/songwriter Chad Fisher has one of these blueprints.
As an ex-member of local jam outfit James in Flames, Fisher has decided to be on his own with his new self-titled, self-released "Acoustic/Electronic"
Fisher chooses to pass through the serious bowels of confession, for a more lighthearted approach. "Nicodemus" and "Celebration" are mainly instrumental jams that hearken to the rustic, acoustic Led Zeppelin "three" album. Fisher obviously has the chops to strike a mean chord on the guitar. "Life" has a in-the-woods, laid-back, campfire vibe that reminds listeners of a Michigan summer up north.
The album's oddest and best track is the ambient reverb laden "Electro-Time." It is an electronic freak out; reminiscent of Pink Floyd's "Run like Hell." Electro-Time features samples either from a movie, or perhaps self-created, but nonetheless brilliant.
"Acoustic/Electronic" is a fine debut for someone looking to tap into that ever-evolving singer-songwriter market.
Fisher will play live Friday at Cafe Latte in East Lansing and returns there Nov. 17. He'll also perform Nov. 29 at Espresso Royale.
