Artist History
Founded in the spring of 2002 by Karri Knuuttila and Jarno Vanhanen Tacere (At that time Tacet Lacrimae) was supposed to be a side project to have fun with.
When Karriīs main band Excelsior (with Tunnelvision keyboardist Vili Ollila)split up there was a need for a new main band. So Karri made the main band out of Tacere thus convering the band into itīs current form in the autumn of 2002.
The band has changed itīs style quite a lot from the spring of 2002 but the spirit of head banging fun is still with the members. Original band member Esa Sokajärvi left the band because of his military service in February 2003. |

Press Reviews
(from Kobaia.net by: Julius "the progemaster", 12.2.2003)
Iīve been out of the metal scene for a couple of years. I havenīt listened to anything but Slayer, Opeth and such "old beards", and Iīm not very aware of the current situation of the genre. Tacere from Vantaa represents the metal scene I know well, carrying out the virtues and vice of modern heavy metal very stylishly to still be in the demo level. The finger exercises are done prestigiously, and there is really nothing to complain about the playing.
While listening I first thought of YUP and Children of Bodom being hybridized. Double bassdrum pulsates, the solos are aggressive but still melodic and sometimes the band even starts beating humppa. Still I wouldīve liked to hear a different - maybe even reformist approach to music from the band. The members are skillful and every player controls his instrument better than well. Itīs just that we have heard this all before in some form or another. This is not a problem, but still Iīd hope that the band would find itīs own very unique course - The essentials are well placed for this.
Karri Knuuttilaīs singing voice is of high quality compared to most of the metal demos around the world. The typical "finnish band - pronunciation" is hearable, but itīll probably be fixed during time. Iīd like to hear more clean vocals on the next piece for I think that the "metal grunts" didnīt succeed so well compared to the clean parts.
My last complaint is about the bass, and the absence of it. I wouldīve liked to hear lively, groovy bass patterns that move the music. The mixing is done well. The sounds are great for a demo and except for the bass, there is nothing bad to say about them.
Karri Knuuttila is a musician, that we will most certainly hear about in the near future. The four songs of the record are all good compositions and would work well as album tracks after a little bit of producing - some of the melodies were quite catchy actually. After a few listenings the demo left a good vibe: I know that for once Iīm hearing early pieces of one of the greats of the future and that I own a record that fans of the future will probably be trying to get a hold of in the form of a rare collectors item.
