Artist description
The music is very lyrically driven, with acoustic guitars being the main backing instrument. Newer recordings also include drums, bass, keys, etc. The music in general is very raw and emotive, giving the deeply poetic lyrics a base from which to speak. Although the music, in general, is what is sometimes called "new folk", there is a definite hard rock influence present and perhaps more so than other artists in similar genres. Also a love for rap, hip-hop, country, as well as classic jazz, blues, and music from all over the world finds its way into the music in various forms. |

Artist History
Stephen Kyle Davis has been writing songs since high school. After starting and subsequently leaving a popular local punk band called "2tonfish" (from whence his nickname "the fish" was derived), he began the difficult task of starting a new band, the whole time writing. In the Spring of 2002, he finally decided to strike out on his own and record his songs all by himself. He chose the artist name "Saving Edmund", after a scene in CS Lewis's famous book, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. His first recording, which he produced himself on his own computer, was called Excelling in Depravity. A second recording, As New as Sin, was produced later that year, and a new project, Woeful Wailings and Other Stereotypes, is now in production. Close friend Christine Hand makes a guest appearance on the first album, and performed with him the summer and fall of 2002. |
