Artist History
Michelle Lewis popped up on the East Coast folk scene a few years ago with the recording of her nine song demo CD, “Reflections of Mine.” The album featured drummer Dan Tracy of Circle and Square, and Water Street member Bob Nashawaty among others. At this time Michelle was also performing in her hometown of Milford, MA at cafes, as well as playing charity functions such as the Nebraska Festival ’00 in Hopkinton, MA where she shared the bill with Derek Webb of Caedmon’s Call.
Wanting to fine tune her expertise in voice, guitar, songwriting, and performance, Michelle enrolled in Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. It was there that she was able to learn from and play with well known musicians such as Epic and Capricorn recording artist Livingston Taylor, and local folk artists Kevin McCluskey and Kristin Cifelli. She also got the opportunity to work with live and studio musician Marlon Saunders, whose credits include Jewel’s “Joy: A Holiday Collection”, and percussionist Equie Castrillo, who has backed up entertainers as big as Jennifer Lopez. To further enrich her learning experience, Michelle then enrolled in a semester abroad at Richmond, the American International University in London. While attending school abroad she deepened her grasp of folk music by immersing herself and experimenting with the folk traditions of England and Ireland. Michelle also brought the American folk scene abroad by performing at the River Bar in London, UK.
Recently, Michelle has been on a songwriting and performing frenzy as she gears up for the recording of her new full length album with sound engineer/mixer Mark Wessel, who is credited as having worked with folk singers Bill Morrisey and Patty Larkin. She has found herself performing several dates around the Boston area in clubs such as the Sky Bar, Great Scott, and All Asia. Beyond her regular gig schedule, Michelle keeps herself busy and experiments with new ideas by performing at open mics throughout the area, such as the legendary Club Passim, The Burren, and The Skellig. Furthermore, she has recently traveled to San Francisco, CA to broaden her audience. While in the San Francisco Bay Area she performed a show at the Bazaar Caf, as well as many open mics including those held at Hotel Utah, The Starry Plough, Blue Lamp Lounge, and Ireland’s 32.
Now submerged in a rigorous performance, songwriting, and recording schedule and with a rapidly growing acceptance of a national audience, Michelle Lewis is bound to quickly become one of the most sought after artists on the national music scene.

Press Reviews
“Aside from her obvious effect on the eyes – she has a very delicate mixture of traditional bluegrass harmonics and Jewelesque modernity. Her voice is manifold in color and clarity, and she has a convincing relationship with her audience.” -Kevin Meagher singer/songwriter + member of Bluebeard-sf |
