Artist History When the end came for Cleveland’s “Optimus Prime” and “Sly Natives,” members of both bands joined forces and refused to throw in the towel. When the dust settled and the smoke cleared, guitarist Vince Difranco, guitarist Brian Sapp, drummer Chris Urminski, and vocalist (now vocalist/bassist ) Buck Polenz brushed themselves off and united as 7Hz Tone (pronounced “Seven Hurts Tone“). After only being established since September of 2002, 7hz Tone have developed an impressively large an loyal following, as well as earning the respect of Cleveland’s major label powerhouses and new found friends Chimaira (Roadrunner/Island/Def Jam), Switched (Immortal/Epic), and Erase The Grey (Republic/Universal). 7Hz Tone’s sound is one that has not often heard coming out of their dreary mid-western home town. They have been compared to such acts as Incubus and 311, in the area of talent as well as over-all sound. Their 3 songs etched within the layers of their demo CD are just an example of what this band has to offer, and this preview is only the beginning. While songs like “Raincoat” and “Safe” prove the overwhelming energy that the band brings forth, songs like “4pm Orange” show you the softer, jazzier, more melodic side to the band. Even though 7Hz Tone bring to the table a sound that is easily sellable to the radio masses, they also pack enough punch to drop an army. To watch 7Hz Tone perform live is to witness 4 friends doing what they love, having fun doing it, perfecting their art and leaving people thinking “There’s no way this band hasn’t been together for years.” This is a band who loves to please their fans as well as prove to the world that 7Hz Tone has what it takes to make to the top, and although their existence is still young, they will prove themselves as a band that will be around for a long time to come.
