Artist History
Randy Dzielak (zee-lack) has been around. From Garbageman to "Carni", from Candlemaker to Cameraman, he has seen his share of shit. But one thing has remained constant in his life - music and the need to play guitar, every single day, faithfully.
"I started to play guitar because I didn't want to end up like the deadbeats I saw wasting their lives in the corner bar. I knew that no matter where I ended up, I would always be able to find happiness by having the guitar to escape with." explains Dzielak. And escape he did, by first leaving small town Throop, Pennsylvania for the bright lights of Los Angeles like every cliched rock 'n' roll story begins. There he studied Audio Visual Engineering and played in various bands. He then headed to New York City where he joined Dogma, a hard rock band out of Brooklyn, as Lead Guitarist. The Band was soon signed to Mercury Records/King Recordings.
After four years,2 albums and touring the U.s., he decided to leave Dogma to explore a less heavy, more acoustic driven solo direction. Having had the experience of recording with such producers as Steve Thompson (Blues Traveler, Guns & Roses, Metallica) and Jason Cosaro(Soundgarden) in such inspiring locales as Woodstock's Bearsville Studios, Dzielak was anxious to work on some writing and recording of his own.
He left NYC for a more peaceful setting - a lakeside cabin in the mountains of PA. There he wrote, recorded, played and sang his entire solo project - Randiddly, entirely by himself. He had begun to master such instruments as the Banjo, Dobro and Lap Steel which would give his solo work a unique twist of modern rock mixed with a country/folk sound. His country side was further influenced when he traveled to Nashville to play as a hired gun at the Grand Ole Opry.
Randiddly can best be described as The Allman Brothers meets Led Zeppelin with a hint of Pink Floyd, but updated with pop melodies and feel-good harmonies. With his "smiley" self and All -American upbeat attitude, Dzielak manages to cover serious topics with a positive vibe. He has a straight forward musical approach with tight song arrangements layered with fun sounds like Bongos, Slide Guitar and Mandolin. The catchy songs and unique mix of musical instruments have drawn impressive reviews at live shows.
With Songwriter/Guitar Player influences like Paul McCartney and Jimmy Page, Randy Dzielak has always experimented with getting great sounds from anything he can get his hands on. And like those before him, he hopes to put out songs with a little depth that feature a musician who loves his craft.
