Artist History
octagon was birthed in early 1994 by, founder/guitarist/lyricist, r. thomas mortigan. it was his vision to create a band of many sides musically, melted into one. his theory: 8 sides to an octagon, 8 sides to the music he created. in the beginning, the band idea was an unaccomplished goal due to being only 15 and not finding a proper lineup. he then hooked up with producermusician lynn mcclune and started writing/recording the first full-length ''the spectacles held so dear', which would eventually take 3 years to complete. the music then was a mixture of electronica, black/death metal and ambient soundscapes. he then moved from seattle to mississippi in 1996, and found members to form a full lineup, which changed frequently. the current lineup of hiimself, alister, joel and krimson is the longest running one yet. today, the music is an extreme metal powerhouse that dazzles listeners with an erray of hard-hitting black metal, groove-laden death metal and puzzling experimental avant-garde. always as unpredictable as it's music and always reinventing itself, octagon progresses frequently. as always, the future is unseen, but nonetheless is worthwhile to the open-minded... |
